(whoops just had a blonde moment) :: TAKE 2

It's been a great over cast Saturday in lovely Melbourne. Spent the arvo + most of the night fiddling around with this one.

Just another manipulation of (poor ol') Dan's stock images
[ LINK ]

Once again i worked from his existing pose/lighting and went from there. I wanted to do some mucking around with skin textures and create this metallic kinda feel - but i realised how much of effort it would be to actually do that from a manip (and much faster from scratch). So this is my mock tribute to ... er ...
:: TRON/Matrix/(Disney's)Atlantis and whatever ;)

(I have issues with the general lighting, and choice of colour on the skin.)

Tools :: Photoshop | Tablet
Time :: 6-8 hours off and on

"the devil is in the detail" - take a full view to check out the patterns on his skin

comments | crits | first born children - all welcomed

Your work is really great! I love this. I think it's more "empty" feeling being black and white. The detail on the body is amazing!
Kind of reminds me of some posters my husband has of the anime 'Ghost in the Shell'. Have you seen the manga or the anime, I think its even a video game now. Here are a few images from the anime

thats so awsome! i love that layout on his skin... maybe a few parts where it sort of glow's would look cool? also maybe something in the backround? like a factory or computer lab? looks really cool though!!

That's amazing, I don't know how long you put into this but I'm surprised you're not charging people admission...

Wow! This is very pretty. :+favlove:

I'm sorry, I tried to find something I could advise on. I really did, but you really made all the lines go with the contours of the body, the most common photo-manipulation problem I notice. (And one I'm guilty of when I try to do a representative photo-manipulation.)

It's amazing!

thanks for the positive compliments.

the lines-on-the-contours-thing is also a pet hate of mine,, not a lot of people seem to understand scale or "wrapping" or textures on surfaces when doing a manip.
the other thing is to also match the shadows and highlights - but i guess you already knew that.

my more recent work-in-prog has a similar feel to it, in terms of texturing of the surface. i'm dabbling in cyborg/androids - enjoy!

Very cool.

I know that, which is a very different thing from being able to do it. It's very difficult for me. :giggle: However, I don't really try to pass off any of my manips as much more than me trying to learn. In either case, my manips are generally in the vein of: "Wow, amorphous blobs of color!"

Sounds good, and your gallery looks good. Time for... :+devwatch:
